Fernwood Art Stroll 2025 Photography Exhibit

Japanese Shrine - Deirdre Kelly

This summer will mark the 17th year that Deirdre’s art will be on display in the Fernwood Art Stroll annual studio tour in the Fernwood neighbourhood of Victoria, B.C. Since Deirdre’s passing in 2018, her husband John Hillian has been showing and selling work from Deirdre’s large body of work each year at the event, and in some other venues around the city as well. Together with painting and multi media, Deirdre was also an accomplished photographer, so this year the focus of the display at the art stroll will be her photography. Each year, John has been able to find work that was never shown during Deirdre’s productive years, and since she only had one exhibition of her photography (in 2012), this year most of the work will be new to the public at large. But highlighting the display will also be some photographic entries that were made to some juried exhibitions in the Victoria region. While recognizable for the many locations that will be familiar to those living in and around Vancouver Island, Deirdre’s photography shows her unique artistic use of the elements of design to create interest and nuance for the viewer. We look forward to continue showing Deirdre’s  work this summer.

The dates of the 2025 Fernwood Art Stroll are June 7th and 8th, 11am – 4pm.
